JANE'S HOME
"First seek to understand, carefully listening to others:
then seek to be understood."
Our Purpose
The primary purpose of Jane’s Home is to provide a congenial environment for people to gather and share ideas, impressions and opinions and to use the Golden Rule as the guiding principle for that sharing. This Home will be a place where knowledge might be passed on and conflicts and needs might be addressed if not resolved. Space can be provided to groups of up to twenty people for presentations and discussions or more intimate spaces for smaller groups. The five bedrooms will be available to guests visiting from other cities and nations. The events and interaction will be furthering the ideals of the Golden Rule. The participation in Jane’s Home will enrich not only the lives of those present but also those that they live and work with essentially affecting the lives in all of their communities.
The Latest Chapter
The latest chapter in the history of the house began a few months after Jane’s passing. She left the house to her Manners Golden Rule Foundation. It was decided to open the home to the community so that it might serve as a place where serious discussions and presentations take place involving groups and individuals who are dedicated to sharing ideas and building understanding with the hope of making the city and the world a better place. Its use has increased dramatically as the months have passed since its inception. It has held various types of gatherings addressing such important issues as nuclear disarmament, nuclear and toxic waste, health care, world refugees, poverty, education, energy, religion, Middle East peace, and civil rights to name a few. The list goes on and continues to grow. It has been the home for guest speakers from around the world.
Jane acquired the house when it was in desperate need and with her foresight, dedication, and hard work made it her home. It has been preserved for generations to come. It enters this new phase of its history as perhaps a home for all of us where we might dedicate ourselves and work hard to try to listen and understand and hopefully begin to solve some of the pressing issues facing us today as world citizens.

"I wanted to write and say thank you again for the wonderful service you provide to the non-profit community with Jane's Home. In the past couple of years . . . we've had a number of invaluable events there, and I've seen the number of invitations from othe non-profits grow - wilderness dialogues, author discussions, and the like!"
