FUNdraising Dance Party!

On Saturday November 23, Golden Rule Project had the incredible opportunity to team up with Tracy Lewis and her Milk ‘n Honey monthly party installment at Tinwell bar in downtown Salt Lake City.

Under the artistic direction of Tracy, Milk n’ Honey showcases local DJs playing house music in a fun, safe space. It also features a nonprofit organization every month and all door proceeds go to them. This month, Tracy reached out to Felipe, our project coordinator, to see if GRP would like to be the beneficiary of November’s party.

We said: ABSOLUTELY YES!

Tracy and Felipe used to help another art collective that throws similar shows in the underground electronic music scene years ago, which is where they met. They both love the nightlife in SLC and the culture that, in a way, they have helped to build in the SLC underground.

This Milk n’ Honey dance party was one for the books. Tinwell had a full house, the vibes were great, and the music made everyone dance all night! GRP had a little space where we started a kindness chain – bar version – with acts of kindness that could easily be performed at a bar! We had a lot of fun seeing how people were actually performing those acts of kindness as they attached their links to the chain.

  • 112 of acts of kindness were part of the chain

  • 3 people showed interest in volunteering with GRP

  • 5 people signed our Golden Rule pledge

  • All funds raised will be used to spread more kindness and compassion in our communities

To all who participated in the kindness chain and to everyone who was excited to learn about GRP and our many projects: THANK YOU!

A special thanks to Tracy for creating a space where things like this can happen. Thanks for helping a non-profit organization, each month, by encouraging the nightlife scene in SLC to give a little.

Thanks to Tinwell bar for hosting and having such great service and environment.

Thanks to the DJs that kept the dance floor packed all night! You may find them on Instagram: Brasstrax (Tracy), Aegee (AJ), and Justin Cornwall (Justin).

You can follow Tracy’s Milk n’ Honey on Facebook and on Instagram . Her next party installment is on December 27 at Tinwell. We can’t wait to go dance and support another organization next month!

Lastly, we are thankful for everyone who supports our mission to bring more kindness in this world. We have all heard of the Golden Rule at one point or another, no matter where we were raised, or what we believe. We keep dreaming of that moment when everyone will wake up remembering the Golden Rule and then see how the world becomes a better place.

Also…!

Happy Thanksgiving! We are thankful for each of you!

And we are grateful for everything in our path.

It makes us who we are.
